YOUTH GROUP TO SELL LIVE OAKS AT HEIGHTS LOCATIONS
Its Cool 2 Care raising funds for Trees For Houston

It’s Cool 2 Care (itscool2care.org), a Houston nonprofit organization blending youth entrepreneurship and community service, is teaming with Heights area businesses to sell live oak saplings as a weeklong Earth Day celebration.
Saplings are available for purchase at
Antidote, 729 Studewood near 7-1/2 Street, April 15-22 and at
Hello Lucky, 1025 Studewood at 10-1/2 Street, April 17-19.
Blue Line Bike Lab, 3302 White Oak, April 15-22

The young trees, each about 3.5 feet tall in a 1-gallon pot are available for a minimum $10 donation to Trees For Houston, a nonprofit dedicated to planting trees along freeways and streets throughout the city. To aid this fundraising event, Newton’s Nursery is supplying saplings at cost and The Morgan Group, Inc. is donating 150 1-gallon Live Oaks.

“On Earth Day, show the planet you care. Plant a tree!,” said Brooke Summers-Perry, It’s Cool 2 Care founding director. “Trees do more than just beautify neighborhoods. They cool the city in summer by providing shade. They also pull carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and pump out oxygen,” she noted. “So we’re ‘Lucky’ to have part of the ‘Antidote’ to climate change right here. Trees aren’t the whole answer, but each live oak you plant can be part of the solution for the next hundred years or longer. And because proceeds will benefit Trees For Houston, you’ll be doing twice as much to help save the planet.”

Updated event information can be found at itscool2care.org.
